IYALOJA OLUWO MARKET LAUDS LASWA FOR LIFE JACKET DISTRIBUTION IN EPE

The Iyaloja of Oluwo Fish Market, Alhaja Adeola Giwa, has commended the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) for distributing Life Jackets to Traders and Boat Operators at Oluwo Market in Epe.

In a show of appreciation during a chat with news correspondents, the Iyaoloja showered encomiums on LASWA and the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stressing that with the provision of the Life Jackets, many waterway users would confidently carry out their businesses with a measure of safety.

Her words: “If you are talking about those who need these life jackets most, it is those of us here in Oluwo Market but the quantity given to us is very small. We really want more. We know the importance of the life jackets, it makes moving around the water a bit safe for us, so am using this medium to ask for more”.

Alhaja Giwa also spoke about the general condition of the market, noting that Mr. Abiodun Tobun, recently commissioned a Borehole at the market, while Mr. Wale Raji’s Cold and Fish Processing facility is still awaiting commissioning.

She thanked the two Honourable members of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe for coming to the aid of the traders in the market when their assistance was much needed.

The Iyaloja listed lack of power supply and an administrative office block among other challenges the market is facing presently, saying: “We don’t have power supply at night for market activities and we also have a faulty big generating set that can be repaired for that purpose. But we will need up to #500,000 to fix the generator. We will appreciate it if others can come to our aid”.
